Bright sliver coloured Pyrolusite crystals line a cavity on the front of this speciman. The crystals are probably Pyrolusite after Manganite crystals, as most of the pyrolusite from this pit was pseudomorphs after manganite. Iron Prince Quarry was one of the original pits mined at Iron Baron and started some 70 or 80 years ago. This pit was closed in 1992 when Iron Baron closed down and when mining resumed in the last 10 years it was backfilled with mill tailings. Specimans from this pit are not very common any more and will never be found again.
