A good sized speciman of this unusual green nickel mineral, from the french owned islands of new caledonia in the pacific ocean. The mineral was first described from a mine in new caledonia, but I have not got the name of the mine that this piece came from. Darker green nepouite occurs as linings in small cavities in the centre of this speciman. I have had this mineral tested to properly identify it .
An excellent sample of an rare mineral from an obscure locality. Not seen on the market very often.
