  • Kidwellite, Iron Monarch Quarry, Iron Knob, SA

    SKU: 279

    Size 6cm x 4cm

Tiny fluffy needles of yellowish kidwellite contrast nicely against a dark background. When first formally identified from iron Monarch in 1983 , it was only the second known world occurance of this mineral. It has since been found in other localities, but rarely as cabinet sized specimans like this one.

It was collected from the RL150 bench on the north wall of the opencut, by Glyn francis in the 1980's.

Speciman comes with one of Glyns labels. Very good speciman of a rare phosphate mineral found many years ago. Very hard to find one for sale today.
