Kidwellite, Cyrilovite, Iron Monarch Quarry, Iron Knob, SA
Size 7.5cm x 4cm
Probably the best kidwellite speciman I have left available. Pale yellow balls of very fine needly kidwellite and brighter yellow cyrilovite cover all three sides of this speciman, the front , back and bottom. The crystals look better under magnification, but the amount of the mineral showing makes a very good cabinet speciman. Collected by Glyn Francis in the 1980's from the north wall of the opencut from the RL 150 bench, one of the higher benches mined out long ago. One of three australian localities for the mineral and the only one that produced cabinet sized specimans.
Excellent speciman of a rare phosphate mineral, from a closed locality.
