Size  7cm x 5cm
A very thin layer of what appears to be botryoidal cryptomelane, covering the surface of a massive piece of silky fibrous goethite. The silky nature of the goethite is evident on three sides of this speciman. The surface of the cryptomelane is stained by iron rich clays from the inside of the cavity where it was found. Good speciman of a slightly different combination from this pit. Collected in the mid 1990's by myself during mining operations. Pit is mined out and now backfilled with waste.
