A very well formed plate of stalactite like growths of cryptomelane on matrix. On broken surfaces this form does not show any fibrous forms , so is not goethite. It is not layered like the lithiophorite stalactites, so is more likely to be straight cryptomelane. When viewed under a microscope, the back of the speciman has a smooth surface of this mineral as well , indicating it was almost a complete floater speciman in a cavity. A well formed speciman of this manganese mineral. Mine closed long ago and backfilled.
