The iconic mineral from Iron Monarch is the iron rich bright red variscite crystals that are unique to this mine. These were found in 1994, over 30 years ago. This piece is above average for size, most pieces were smaller than this. It has a good coverage of scattered crystal clusters and has the nice red colour. The crystals are also quite lustrous. Variscite crystals are rare worldwide, but red ones are even rarer. The back of the speciman has been cut to reduce excess matrix and weight. Saw cuts are not visible from the front of the speciman.
