Dufrenite, Cyrilovite, Strengite, Kidwellite, Iron Monarch Quarry, Iron Knob, S
Size 5cm x 3cm
Despite being a smaller speciman, it sure makes up for it with the range of minerals on one speciman.
Under magnification, the dufrenite occurs as well formed greenish-black crystals, the cyrilovite is all of the yellow mineral, which has mostly pseudomorphed strengite, and the strengite is the well crystallised white to clear crystals. There are also cavities that are lined with pale yellow needle like crystals of Kidwellite. This mineral is a rare phosphate mineral, and at the time of discovery here was only the second locality worldwide. Kidwellite was not common at Iron Monarch. Was mined in the 1970's from the north wall of the pit.
