Spessartine, Galena, Blackwood Opencut, Broken Hill, NSW
Size 6cm x 4cm
Another hard to photograph speciman, it is a lot more lustrous and shiny in person. This is a real combo speciman, having anglesite and smithsonite crystals in the cavity near the bottom of the speciman. It also has cerussite, linarite, a unidentified green copper mineral and on the back some tiny sprays of white needles that are unidentified, although these last minerals require a microscope to find them. For the right collector with a microscope, this piece probably has more surprises as well.
Not bad , eight minerals in one speciman, broken hill never ceases to surprise us collectors !
