Smithsonite on Pyromorphite, Block 14 Opencut, Broken Hill, NSW

SKU: 496

Size  5cm x 3cm

A superb speciman of small, transparent smithsonite crystals and small white needles of pyromorphite, on a cluster of larger brown pyromorphite crystals. The smithsonite looks like a fine dusting of snow over the brown pyromorphite. There is very minimal damage. The last photo shows the back of the speciman, where the smithsonite is a lot thicker. Generally the brown pyromorphite came from the lower levels of the mines, nearer to the sulphide ore. I have never seen very many of these specimans, so I presume that there were not that many collected. An excellent speciman of these two minerals.
