Smithsonite on Coronadinite, Kintore Opencut, Broken Hill, NSW
Size 10cm x 5 cm
Grey cavernous, stalactitic coronadinite is the matrix for individual crystals and balls of smithsonite. The smithsonite is scattered all over the matrix, both front and back. Speciman can be displayed from both sides. At 10 cm long it is a good sized cabinet speciman of smithsonite on this form of coronadinite. Mining in kintore opencut finished in 1996, the pit is still there and has the decline for the CBH Rasp mine, at the bottom of it. One end of the pit is backfilled with waste, and the other end is old slag dumps from the early smelters. No specimans will come from this pit ever again.
Not many of these specimans on the market these days, so here is your chance !!
