Size 7cm x 4cm

Small cabinet sized speciman of lustrous brownish-orange rhodochrosite crystals from the manganese carbonate ore zone. Also associated are tiny lustrous black hausmannite crystals. This manganese rich carbonate ore also yielded all of the rare manganese minerals, including two new to science. Most specimans from this zone were more suited to micromounts, but rarely larger pieces had enough coverage on them to make cabinet specimans, such as this one.

This area was mined out in the 1990's. Photos are too overexposed, speciman is better in person.
