A nice sized cabinet speciman of quartz crystals on glassy calcite crystals from the Iron Prince quarry. 
These calcite specimans were mined in the 1970's from the higher benches of the opencut. The Iron Prince Quarry was well known for dolomite crystals, quartz crystals and pyrolusite crystals, these all being found in the 70's and 80's. It is very hard to find specimans from this mine available today, due to the opencut being closed in 1992 and never opened again and pumped full of tailings during recent mining activity. Back of speciman has been cut to rid excess matrix.
