Nice miniture speciman of hematite on quartz from this long closed pit. Well terminated and reasonably lustrous quartz crystals line the cavity with a sprinkling of bladed hematite crystals on the right hand side of the speciman. This pit was closed in the early 90's and was backfilled with tailings from recent mining operations. This piece was collected years ago by a miner, and was aquired when we bought his collection. It has been cut with a saw to rid excess matrix, before we got it, I would have trimmed it a bit different, but too late!
