Good sized speciman of pyrolusite after manganite from the Iron Wizard Opencut. These pyrolusites came from the lowest bench in this small opencut. Most of the specimans found were smaller than this piece, this one being on the larger side. The cavity is 45 mm long, 15 mm wide at its widest and completely lined out with lustrous silver coloured heavy needle like crystals. Spectacular under a microscope !  The opencut was closed shortly after these were found, and backfilled with waste rock afterwards.
