A thumbnail sized speciman of native copper on quartz matrix from the closed mine at Girilambone. Mining here finished in 1999.  The copper is a thin sheet, almost like copper foil, which formed in rock fractures. During mining operations the quartz was broken away from the copper exposing the copper sheet. Nice little matrix speciman.
