Very well formed hematite crystals, coated with a matt brown coating of goethite, with clear gemmy quartz crystals on top. Looks amazing under magnification, excellent for micro specimans. Some of the quartz crystals show double terminations. The quartz is unusually gemmy for this pit. 
Unfortunately, as shown in the photos there is two saw cuts visible, on the bottom and left side. Could be cut into perfect micros or left as is.
This was part of a larger speciman mined years ago and needing a trim on the saw, this cavity was inside the rock and the saw went right through the middle !! 
Probably mined in the 70's or 80's as this was one of the original pits and closed down many years ago. This pit was not reworked in recent mining activities at Iron Baron
