Hematite in Quartz, Iron Monarch Quarry, Iron Knob, SA
SKU: 564
Size 6cm x 4cm
Small cabinet speciman of quartz with a layer of hematite trapped under the surface of the crystals, giving them a unusual orange red colour. Quartz was a common mineral in the mine and many crystals were found in the north wall jaspilites and other areas of the pit. There was a lot of red-pink coloured quartz due to hematite, but not in good crystals and always small crystals.
