A nice sized cabinet speciman of black botryoidal goethite from the Iron Wizard pit. Goethite only appeared once in this pit, with the pyrolusite crystals, (there is some pyrolusite on the back ) and was not plentiful. I had only a few hours collecting the pyrolusite, and there were not many goethite specimans found.
This opencut was a small iron ore deposit between the Iron Prince and Little Baron Opencuts at Iron Baron, it was only active for a short amount of time and produced very little speciman material, before it was closed and backfilled with wasterock from other mining activity. There are quartz and pyrolusite specimans from this pit advertised on this website as well.
