A good sized cabinet sized speciman of druzy Gibbsite crystals with an unusual brownish red colour. Gibbsite rarely forms crystals anywhere in the world. At the Iron Baron pit in the late 80's or early 90's one isolated occurence was discovered that produced micro sized crystals. Most specimans were a greyish colour, but many years after mining had stopped in this pit, I found one isolated boulder on a waste dump, that had come from this original find, with these coloured specimens. I searched everywhere on that dump and couldn't find another piece. This dump has since been rehabilitated. The open pit closed in the early 90's and was not reopened in recent mining activity, and remains innaccessable.
