Nice shiny cleavage fragment of galena. This form of galena was more common in the early days of mining and in the higher levels of the deposit. Galena that is mined currently is mostly fine grained and not cubic like this . These are not crystals, they are cleavage fragments, ie if you were to break this with a hammer , it would just break into smaller cubes. From opencut mining nearly 30 years ago.
