Gypsum on Malachite, Mt Gunson Mine, Woomera, SA
SKU: 551
Size 7cm x 4cm
Different to the fine crystals of gypsum that this mine is well known for, this gypsum comes from one of the copper orebodies. This type of gypsum was less common and never crystalized as well as the stuff from the ponds of water. The display face is covered with clear glassy almost melted looking gypsum crystals, growing over malachite, which gives the speciman a green tinge. Collected years ago while they were mining for a leaching project. Unusual gypsum speciman from here, not many were collected because they didn't compare to the best crystals from the ponds.
