A miniture sized calcite rose from a cavity in basalt, found while the quarry was operational. These calcites were quite abundant on the market years ago, but now are never seen . The last photo shows the bottom of the speciman where it was joined to the cavity wall. This quarry has long since closed and now is rehabilitated and filled with dirt and used for farming. Specimans wiil never be produced here again.
