Beryl, Triple Chance Mine, Broken Hill, NSW
SKU: 412
Size 7cm x 7cm
Quite a large beryl crystal, from this closed mine. The crystal is roughly terminated on one end as seen in the first two photos, and is broken on the other end , like most crystals from here. This mine is just out of Broken Hill and was mined for feldspar, muscovite and beryl. It was renowned for yellowish beryl crystals like this one , and they reached up to over a metre in length, although most were smaller. The mine was operated in the early years by a female miner, Tess Alfonso, apparentely a bit of a local legend. The mine has been closed since 2012.
